An S350 alignment problem resolved—and a relationship that grew to include the family’s Volvo
The first visit was for alignment. After NHC resolved a problem that had persisted despite repeated adjustments at several workshops, the owner entrusted us with a comprehensive inspection and the family’s Volvo. This time, the S350 returned for alignment after substantial suspension replacement at the dealer, supported by evidence from that inspection.
The family’s Volvo mentioned here is the XC60 in the following case. See the family’s XC60 tyre and driveline service

From an alignment visit to caring for the family’s cars
This S350 did not first come to NHC for a comprehensive inspection. It arrived with a persistent alignment concern after repeated adjustments at several workshops. Resolving that concern built trust, and the owner later booked a comprehensive inspection.
We also look after the family’s Volvo. Some customers recommend NHC to family and friends after experiencing our work on their own car; this relationship similarly grew from one vehicle to family-car care.
More recently, evidence from the comprehensive inspection was used to request action at the dealer. A substantial portion of the suspension was replaced, and the owner was very pleased with that outcome. After the suspension work, the S350 returned to NHC to have its four-wheel alignment set again.

The inspection helped the owner obtain action from the dealer
The owner first came to us after repeated alignment visits elsewhere. Once that concern was resolved, they asked NHC to inspect the rest of the car. On 8 August, at 66,563 km, we checked the underbody, suspension and driveline connections, fluid samples and brake fluid.
The owner took the inspection evidence to the dealer, where a substantial portion of the suspension was replaced. They were very pleased with that outcome. The September visit was the follow-up alignment after those replacements.
Samples help us discuss the actual condition with the owner. We consider them alongside the service history and component checks when planning the work.
The next visit covered the oils and filters
On 29 August, the S350 returned for engine, transmission and differential oil service. The photographs show the products used and the BG exchange equipment in operation. The transmission work also included a level-setting step.
The correct fluid, procedure and final level
Transmission fluid is not changed often. The fluid specification, replacement procedure and final fill level all matter. After replacement, levelling is essential: the final quantity must be set under the temperature and operating conditions specified for the transmission.
Engine oil: MOTOREX PROFILE V-XL SAE 5W-30. Transmission fluid: FUCHS TITAN ATF 9034. Differential oil: MOTOREX GEAR OIL PENTA LS 75W-90.

The dashboard oil-level check was also photographed after the work. Knowing what was inspected and serviced at each visit helps us plan the next one.

September: alignment after the dealer suspension work
Front-left toe measured -0.9mm, below the displayed 0.4–2.6mm range and in the toe-out direction. Front-right toe was 1.0mm, within that range.
Rear toe measured 3.6mm left and 2.7mm right. Both were within the 1.2–4.2mm range, with a 0.9mm difference. The front out-of-range reading and rear side-to-side difference were considered separately during adjustment.

Adjustment — Resetting Toe on All Four Wheels
Front toe was set to 1.5mm left and 1.4mm right. Rear toe was adjusted to 2.4mm left and 2.6mm right.
Thrust angle changed from 0.03° to -0.01°. The diagrams illustrate toe direction; the table includes the actual readings for toe, camber and caster.

Completing the follow-up with alignment after replacement
Wheel alignment needs to be checked after suspension replacement. On this car, the follow-up measurement found front-left toe outside the displayed range. We corrected it and adjusted rear toe as well.
Resolving the original alignment concern led to comprehensive inspection and family-car care. This time, the sequence continued through an evidence-supported dealer repair and post-repair alignment. Knowing the vehicle’s history allows care to continue beyond a single visit.

Frequently asked questions
Why check alignment again after dealer suspension replacement?
Alignment needs to be checked after suspension parts are removed and replaced. This S350 returned to NHC for measurement, and front-left toe was adjusted from -0.9 to 1.5mm. All four wheels were checked.
How far off is a front-left toe reading of -0.9 mm?
The specification is 0.4–2.6 mm, and this wheel read -0.9 mm — the opposite sign, meaning it was turned the wrong way relative to spec. After adjustment it sits at 1.5 mm, within range and only 0.1 mm apart from the right wheel (1.4 mm).
The rear wheels were within spec — why adjust them too?
Rear toe and thrust angle set the car's straight-line reference. Even within specification, the rears had a 0.9 mm side-to-side difference (3.6 mm vs 2.7 mm). After adjustment they read 2.4 mm and 2.6 mm — a 0.2 mm gap — and the thrust angle of -0.01° is nearly aligned with the vehicle centerline.
Still uncomfortable after repeated repairs? Tell us the history.
Tell us what still feels wrong and what has already been adjusted or replaced. Previous readings and repair records are helpful. We will inspect the current condition and explain the work needed. You can also discuss post-suspension-repair alignment or regular care for other family vehicles.
