Volvo XC60: what followed the inspection—tyres and driveline fluids
Following its earlier full inspection, this XC60 returned for tyres and driveline fluids. We selected tyres with ride comfort in mind, completed RFV matching and adjusted alignment. The remaining noise needs further checks around the mounts and suspension.

2019 Volvo XC60 · 90,180 km · follow-up visit after the earlier full inspection (Sep 18–19, 2026)
Michelin Primacy Tour A/S fitment with RFV measurement and matching, wheel alignment, ATF, Haldex and differential fluid exchange
Toe imbalance and thrust angle corrected; remaining noise and vibration to be traced through engine mounts, upper arms and related parts

Why the Car Came In and What We Covered
This is the XC60 we previously took through a full inspection. From the items identified then, this visit covered the tire replacement with RFV matching, wheel alignment, and the ATF, Haldex and differential fluid exchanges.
The odometer read 90,180 km. Noise and vibration rarely come from a single source, so we agreed to separate what comes from the tires and alignment from what may come from the engine mounts and suspension parts, and work through them in order.

Tire Replacement and RFV Measurement & Matching
The car arrived on Michelin Latitude Sport 3 tires. This time we chose the Michelin Primacy Tour A/S, prioritizing ride comfort.
After fitting the tyres, we measured RFV on the Hunter Road Force machine. Weight imbalance was addressed through wheel balancing, while roller loading allowed us to check force variation as each assembly turned.
During measurement, one screen showed 12.0 kg against our equipment threshold of 10.9 kg. In such cases we lower the value by match-mounting — rotating the tire on the rim to find the best combination. After matching and arranging the wheels across the four positions, the final readings were 8.0 kg front left, 5.5 kg front right, 5.5 kg rear left and 6.0 kg rear right — all four below the threshold.

Wheel Alignment – Protecting the New Tires
Before adjustment, front-right toe was -0.1 mm, outside the displayed 0.0–2.5 mm range. Rear toe was unequal at 2.4 mm left and 1.2 mm right.
Final front toe was 1.3/1.2 mm and rear toe 1.3/1.3 mm. The thrust angle changed from 0.05° to 0.00°. Tyre wear can now be monitored alongside this record.

| Front left | 0.4 | 1.3 | -0.80 | -0.82 |
| Front right | -0.1 | 1.2 | -0.98 | -0.93 |

ATF Exchange – FUCHS TITAN ATF 6400
The transmission fluid was exchanged using service equipment and FUCHS TITAN ATF 6400. The inspection-tube photographs show the fluid during the exchange.
The correct fluid, procedure and final level
Transmission fluid is not changed often. The fluid specification, replacement procedure and final fill level all matter. After replacement, levelling is essential: the final quantity must be set under the temperature and operating conditions specified for the transmission.
The dark fluid visible before the exchange was followed by clearer red fluid. The service finished with fluid-level adjustment.

Haldex and Differential Fluid Service
The Haldex coupling controls drive sent to the rear axle. Its fluid was replaced with RAVENOL AWD-H.
MOTOREX PENTA LS 75W90 was used in the rear differential. The transmission, Haldex coupling and differential are separate service points; different fluids were used for each.

Remaining Noise and Vibration – Separating the Causes
After the tyre and alignment work, there was still a separate noise to investigate. Engine mounts and upper suspension arms were among the next areas to check, and we looked up the parts.
This visit completed the tyre, alignment and fluid work. Any mount or suspension replacement will be discussed after checking the noise location and component condition.
Frequently asked questions
Will new tires eliminate all noise and vibration?
They reduce what comes from the tires and alignment, but when other causes are suspected — as with this car's engine mounts and upper arms — some vibration can remain. The safe approach is to separate the causes first and address only what each one requires.
How is RFV different from wheel balancing?
Wheel balancing corrects weight distribution as the wheel spins. RFV measures how the force varies as the tire is compressed and rolled under load. Even a balanced wheel can leave residual vibration if RFV is high, so we check both when fitting new tires.
XC60 noise or vibration? Let us identify the work needed now.
Tell us when the noise occurs, at what speed, and about recent tyre and fluid changes. We will inspect the tyres and consider whether mounts or suspension need attention, then explain the work sequence. Book a visit by phone or Naver.
