Rolls-Royce Wraith: engine oil service and precise four-wheel care

Careful routine maintenance helps preserve the qualities of a good car. We changed the engine oil and filter on this 2018 Wraith, corrected the measured wheel alignment differences, and checked the electronic oil level and service indicators.

01

The driver-focused Rolls-Royce

The Wraith debuted in 2013 as a two-door fastback GT. At launch, Rolls-Royce described it as its most powerful model, combining comfort with greater emphasis on the driving experience.

Its flowing body and V12 engine make it a distinctive and uncommon car. Caring for the engine and suspension together helps preserve the driving qualities that make the model special.

Draining the oil and servicing the filter

The existing engine oil was drained and the oil filter and housing were serviced. An oil service includes attention to the filter, the work area and the oil level after filling.

Shell HELIX ULTRA 0W-30 ECT C2/C3 was used in this job. A shared brand or viscosity does not make an oil suitable for every vehicle; the requirements of the individual car must be checked.

Routine maintenance aims to replace oil at an appropriate interval before deterioration places additional strain on the engine. Mileage, elapsed time and operating conditions all matter.

Removing the front toe difference

Front toe measured 1.3 mm left and 3.1 mm right. The right-hand value was outside the range displayed by the equipment, with a side-to-side difference of 1.8 mm. Both sides were adjusted to 1.2 mm.

Rear camber changed from −1.57/−1.52° to −1.67/−1.69°, and rear toe from 1.7/0.5 mm to 1.3/1.4 mm. The thrust angle, describing the rear axle’s direction of travel, changed from +0.05° to 0.00°.

The front right toe, rear camber and rear right toe that were outside the displayed range moved into the equipment’s green range. Original measurement screens accompany the diagram below.

Each wheel is compared with its own adjusted value. Large numbers show measured toe; signed values show the change from that setting. Matching the dashed outline does not mean zero toe or parallel wheels. Tilt exaggerates the difference and is not the actual angle.

Checking oil level and service indicators

After the oil service, the electronic oil-level display confirmed a normal level. This is an essential final check alongside the choice of oil.

We reset the engine oil and vehicle check service items and confirmed both displayed OK. The paired screens below show the service indicators after the work, before and after reset; they are not arrival fault warnings.

Maintenance includes the final checks

The engine oil and filter were serviced and the front and rear wheel alignment adjusted. We also confirmed a normal oil level and completed the service indicator reset.

Jobs described simply as an oil change can differ in product choice, filter and work-area care, and final checks. These details should be part of a quote comparison.

Other imported and Korean vehicles receive the same care. NHC Motors recommends maintenance according to each model’s requirements and the condition of the individual car.

Frequently asked questions

Which engine oil was used in this Wraith?

Shell HELIX ULTRA 0W-30 ECT C2/C3 was used. For another vehicle, the required product specifications must be checked as well as viscosity.

Is alignment adjustment needed at every oil change?

Not necessarily. Tyre wear, steering-wheel position and suspension work history help determine the need for inspection; measurements determine whether adjustment is needed. This Wraith had front right toe and other values outside the equipment’s displayed range.

Does resetting a service indicator confirm the oil condition?

A reset updates the service interval reminder. The actual oil service and oil-level check are completed before the relevant service items are reset.

Can Korean vehicles receive the same level of care?

Yes. Inspection steps are not omitted based on a car’s price. Products and procedures are selected for the model, followed by the appropriate checks.
