Range Rover Vogue: at what height should alignment be set?

On a vehicle with adjustable air suspension, the height reference is part of the job. This Vogue received height calibration, suspension tightening and four-wheel alignment.

Establish the suspension height reference

A Range Rover can raise and lower its body. Suspension geometry changes with that movement, so alignment needs the prescribed measurement condition.

The diagnostic records show the height-calibration procedure and a successful operation message. We used the height checks alongside the suspension work, rather than treating alignment as an isolated adjustment.

Air springs do not remove the need to check bushes

Air springs support the vehicle, while rubber-bushed suspension joints still need the appropriate tightening position. Clamping a bonded bush with the arm hanging can preload the rubber when the body returns to its normal height.

Ride-height tightening and electronic height calibration address different parts of that setup. Both were included before the alignment work was completed.

Front toe-in and rear toe-out were corrected

Before adjustment, front toe measured 4.3 / 2.7 mm. The rear wheels showed −1.8 / −1.9 mm. The front and rear axles therefore required different corrections.

After adjustment, the readings were 0.7 / 0.8 mm at the front and 2.0 / 2.1 mm at the rear. The comparison below shows each wheel separately.

Check height, tightening and geometry together

On an air-suspended SUV, a useful service record needs to show the setup as well as the final alignment figures. Height calibration confirms the reference used by the suspension system; tightening and alignment address the mechanical setup.

This visit documents those operations. It does not include an air-strut replacement.

Bring the changes you have noticed

If the vehicle’s stance, steering-centre position or tyre wear has changed, mention any recent suspension work when booking. Previous measurement reports are also useful.

That history helps us decide whether to start with a height check, mechanical inspection or wheel alignment.

Questions before booking

Does height calibration replace ride-height tightening?

No. Calibration sets the air-suspension system’s height reference. Ride-height tightening concerns the working position of the relevant mechanical bushes.

Should alignment be checked after suspension work?

Work that changes suspension position or geometry can require an alignment check. The required setup depends on the vehicle and the work performed.

Check your Vogue’s ride height before alignment

If the vehicle leans or its ride height feels different, tell us about any recent suspension repairs. We will inspect ride height and suspension condition before deciding the appropriate ride-height tightening and alignment work.

We explain the scope and cost after inspecting the vehicle and proceed with your agreement.
