Mercedes-Benz GLE350d Engine Oil, Oil Filter and Cabin Filter Replacement

We replaced the engine oil and oil filter, and also looked after the cabin filters and tire pressure.

An oil change is a good time to look at the oil filter and cabin filters as well. On this GLE350d, we drained the old engine oil and replaced the oil filter with a new one. We also replaced the recirculation and fresh-air cabin filters and attended to the tire pressure.

We drained the engine oil and replaced the filter

With the vehicle raised, we drained the old engine oil and removed the oil filter. We compared the new MANN-FILTER filter against the old one before installing it.

The oil filter traps contaminants in the oil circulating through the engine. Replacing the filter along with the oil means the contaminants held in the old filter are not left in the system.

We closed the drain, assembled the filter housing and added new oil

For this service we used PETRONAS Syntium 5000 DM 5W-30 and BG DOC. We tightened the oil drain and assembled the filter housing with the new filter inside.

The drain and the filter housing are opened and closed at every oil change. If you notice fresh oil marks where you park after the service, or a warning appears, have both areas and the oil level checked together.

We also looked after the cabin filters and tire pressure

We replaced both cabin filters, recirculation and fresh-air, and checked the tire pressure. The cabin filters remove dust from the air entering the cabin, so we compared the old and new filters side by side to check their condition.

After the service, the instrument cluster service screen showed 365 days and 15,000 km remaining. When planning the next service, consider this screen together with the date of the last service, the distance you actually drive and the vehicle's condition.

On this GLE350d, we replaced the oil and the oil filter together. This keeps the contaminants captured by the old filter from staying in use with the new oil.

If the service screen shows 15,000 km remaining, can I wait until then?

Along with the remaining distance on the instrument cluster, consider the distance you actually drive, the date of the last service, and whether any warnings or fresh oil marks have appeared. If you notice anything unusual, it is better to have the car inspected before the displayed distance runs out.
