BMW 750Li: checking coolant and lighting during an oil service
As a car ages, there may be more to address than an oil change. This 2005 BMW 750Li received an engine oil and filter change, cooling-system pressure check, cap inspection and angel-eye lighting work.

Coolant loss: checking the cap and connections
Knowing where coolant is going matters more than simply recording top-ups. We connected pressure-test equipment and inspected the expansion-tank cap on this car.
The cap regulates cooling-system pressure. Its seal belongs on the inspection list alongside hoses and connections.

Drained oil and the used filter also tell us about the car
We removed the used oil filter and fitted a replacement. The drained oil was collected in a container for inspection, and the drain fastener was tightened with a torque wrench.
An oil service also establishes a reference for the next visit. Service and top-up records make changes in oil quantity or leakage easier to compare.

Refilling and completing the oil service
We prepared the oil and service products and refilled through the oil filler.
After fitting the filter and drain fastener, the service is completed by checking the correct oil quantity for the vehicle.

Removing the headlamp for angel-eye work
The front-end components and headlamp were removed for the angel-eye work. Lighting jobs also require checking the access and dismantling needed.

Where do you start when coolant slowly disappears?
A pressure test checks whether the cooling system holds pressure. The cap, hoses and connections are among several possible sources; testing and monitoring help narrow them down.
Why use a torque wrench on the oil drain fastener?
The drain fastener is repeatedly removed and refitted. Overtightening can damage threads, while undertightening can cause leakage. The specified torque helps avoid both.
Why remove front-end components for angel-eye work?
On this car, front-end components and the headlamp were removed for access. Dismantling depends on the lamp type and replacement location, which are checked first.
