2016 BMW 118d Engine Oil and Brake Fluid Change – The Basic Checks We Did Alongside

Filter Cap and Filter Removal, Shell 5W-30 Refill
We removed the filter cap and old element, cleaned the housing, and checked the areas around the seal before fitting the new filter.
Shell Helix Ultra ECT C3 5W-30 was used for this service. The photographs show the product and filter replacement.

Brake Fluid Exchange
We also exchanged the brake fluid during this visit. The work was done at the brake fluid reservoir, drawing the old fluid out through a drain hose while replacing it with new fluid.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which can affect braking performance if it stays in service too long. It does not need changing as often as engine oil, but it is an item that needs periodic attention, and an oil change visit is a convenient time to do it.

Underbody Check and What Comes Next
