The Vantage is Aston Martin’s driver-focused, two-seat sports car. Its appeal lies in its agile proportions and steering response, and it remains an uncommon sight in Korea. Caring for one means preserving the way it drives as well as the way it looks.

The owner entrusted this car, showing 2,840 km, to NHC Motors for wheel alignment. Despite its low mileage, measurements showed side-to-side differences at both axles, which guided the adjustments.

Vantage: Aston Martin’s dedicated sports car

Within Aston Martin’s range, the DB11 is a GT designed with longer journeys in mind, while the Vantage focuses on the driver’s connection with the car. Its front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout puts handling at the heart of the experience. Wheel alignment and tyre condition deserve close attention to preserve that steering feel and balance.

Low mileage alone does not establish correct alignment. Before adjustment, front camber measured −1.06° on the left and −0.62° on the right: a difference in wheel tilt when viewed from the front.

We established which settings needed attention and remeasured the same car after adjustment. The front camber difference fell from 0.44° to 0.01°.

What we measured and adjusted

Front camber was 0.44 degrees apart left to right and was brought to 0.01 degrees. Front toe difference went from 1.0mm to 0.0mm.

Rear toe difference also fell from 1.2 mm to 0.2 mm. Thrust angle—the angle between the combined direction of the rear wheels and the vehicle centreline—changed from 0.05° to −0.01°.

Caster changed from 6.13° left and 6.50° right to 5.98° and 5.97°. The difference fell to 0.01°, while both final values remained slightly above the displayed upper limit of 5.92°.

Confirmation drive

The owner preferred to keep additional mileage down, so we kept the confirmation drive short and focused on steering-wheel centring.

For a collector car, we discuss the need and scope of a confirmation drive in advance. We respect the wish to preserve mileage and agree on the checks to carry out.

Result

We reduced the side-to-side differences in front camber and toe at both axles, then checked steering-wheel centring on a short drive. The original before-and-after screens show the recorded changes.

Frequently asked questions

Does a car with under 3,000km need an alignment?

Yes. At 2,840km this car showed a 0.44-degree front camber difference and a 1.0mm front toe difference. We judge by measurement, not mileage.

Which figures changed, and by how much?

Front camber difference 0.44° → 0.01°, front toe difference 1.0mm → 0.0mm, rear toe difference 1.2mm → 0.2mm, thrust angle 0.05° → -0.01°.

Does alignment mean setting every value to zero?

No. Adjustments follow the requirements of the model. Here, front toe is 1.3 mm on each side. The side-to-side difference is zero; the toe setting itself is not.

Can I bring a BMW, Mercedes-Benz or Korean car?

Yes. We also service other imported and Korean cars. We follow each model’s requirements and procedures, with the same care we apply to premium vehicles.

How long is the test drive after the work?

It depends on the owner. Here, mileage was to be kept low, so we only confirmed steering centre and straight-line tracking briefly.
