2023 Kia K5 engine and transmission oil service with a BG fluid exchange

We replaced the engine oil and filters on this 2023 Kia K5, then exchanged the transmission fluid with a BG PXT machine. The equipment recorded the amount of new fluid supplied, and the scan tool displayed the transmission fluid temperature.

2023 Kia K5

This 2023 Kia K5 came in for engine oil and transmission fluid on the same visit. We drained the engine oil, replaced the filter and added fresh oil. The transmission fluid was exchanged with a BG PXT machine. Both are oil services, but the methods differ.

We used PETRONAS 5000AV 5W-30 for the engine and FUCHS TITAN ATF 6400 for the transmission. We also checked the new-fluid supply shown on the BG machine and the fluid temperature displayed by the scan tool.

Engine oil drained and filters replaced

We drained the used engine oil and fitted a new oil filter. We compared the old and new air filters and replaced the air filter as well. The fresh engine oil was PETRONAS 5000AV 5W-30.

We topped up the washer fluid and set the tire pressure to 35 psi. Those were separate maintenance items during the same visit.

Transmission fluid exchanged with the BG PXT machine

For the transmission, we used FUCHS TITAN ATF 6400. The BG PXT machine supplied fresh fluid while exchanging the old fluid. Its completion screen showed 13.2 quarts of new fluid supplied.

That 13.2-quart figure is the amount supplied during the exchange. It is not the final volume inside the transmission or the vehicle’s specified capacity.

The scan tool showed a transmission fluid temperature of 55°C

Fluid volume and level change with temperature. The correct fluid specification and level-check procedure matter during a transmission service. The scan tool displayed 55°C for the transmission fluid during this work.

The exchange quantity and the final level check are separate. The specified fluid must be used, and the level checked at the temperature required for the vehicle.
