BMW M2: what if the alignment adjustment runs out?
Matching the screen readings is only part of the job. On this M2, the available toe adjustment also needed attention while working with the camber setting.

Vehicle: 2019 BMW M2 F87
Work: ride-height tightening, four-wheel alignment and RFV service
Finding: restricted toe-adjustment range during the work
Outcome: adjustment within the available range and advice to investigate the knuckle/control-arm area

Check why the adjustment range is restricted
The workshop recording shows a stage where the available toe adjustment was insufficient when working with the camber setting. The knuckle and control-arm area were identified for further inspection.
We completed the available adjustment and explained the next repair step. This was not a visit in which those suspected parts were replaced.

The rubber bushes have a working position too
The M2’s responses make changes in suspension setup worth checking carefully. Bonded rubber bushes should be tightened at the specified ride-height position, so that lowering the car does not add unwanted rubber twist.
We included ride-height tightening in the work. It complements the alignment check, but it cannot correct a deformed component or restore a missing adjustment range.

Four wheels, two measurement records
Front toe changed from 2.4 / −0.6 mm to 1.1 / 1.0 mm. Rear toe changed from −1.7 / 0.9 mm to 1.7 / 1.9 mm. Thrust angle changed from −0.10° to −0.01°.
The final screen records the setting reached. The adjustment-range issue found during the process remains a separate reason for further mechanical inspection.

Toe direction and differences are exaggerated at the same scale in both views. Green: within the displayed toe range; red: outside. Camber is shown separately in the table.
| Wheel | Toe before (mm) | After (mm) | Camber before (°) | After (°) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Front left | 2.4 | 1.1 | -1.13 | -1.17 |
| Front right | -0.6 | 1.0 | -1.50 | -1.43 |
| Rear left | -1.7 | 1.7 | -1.79 | -1.79 |
| Rear right | 0.9 | 1.9 | -1.72 | -1.78 |
Caster L/R: 7.18° / 7.21° → 7.17° / 7.21°. Thrust angle: -0.10° → -0.01°.

Geometry and tyre behaviour need different checks
RFV service was also part of this visit. Road-force measurement checks force variation in the tyre-and-wheel assembly under roller load; it does not measure suspension geometry.
For a handling-focused car, those checks serve different purposes. A wheel-alignment result alone does not describe every possible source of vibration or steering feel.

Use the result to plan the next step
The owner was advised about the restricted adjustment range after the work was brought as close as possible within the available adjustment. The next step is to inspect the relevant components and address the cause.
If your M2 still feels different after previous adjustment, bring the reports and describe when the change is noticeable. We can compare the settings and inspect the mechanical condition together.

Questions before booking
Does a final alignment screen rule out a mechanical problem?
No. The adjustment process can reveal restricted movement or range that still needs investigation, even when a final setting has been reached.
Can ride-height tightening substitute for a damaged-arm repair?
No. It addresses the tightening position of relevant bushes. A damaged arm or knuckle requires its own inspection and repair decision.
Check both the readings and the adjustment process on your M2
Bring previous alignment reports and suspension work history if adjustment is difficult or the driving feel has changed. We will inspect the adjustment range and suspension connections, carry out the work possible and explain any further checks needed.
We explain the scope and cost after inspecting the vehicle and proceed with your agreement.
